A day of random adventures on our third and final A day of random adventures on our third and final day in Medellin. Started off with a tourist trail of the San Pedro cemetery! Then up in the cable car to take another look at this thriving city from above where the condors fly. El Poblano for lunch (surprised to find a multitude of sex shops intermingled with the youth hostels). Next off to the university, to gain access to the museum of Antioquia (with its unique mix of very extraordinary art and pre-Colombian artifacts), really cool place to visit. On the way home happened across a street orchestra, and finally beers and street food to finish the night. Epic!

Another adventure around Medellin. This time to th Another adventure around Medellin. This time to the extraordinary Comuna 13. Once the epicentre of violence, precarious houses built on the side of hills, with narrow steep streets, which generated multiple alleys, viewpoints and hide holes, ideal for criminals and the drug trade. Now transformed. Through the arts; graffiti, hip-hop, breakdancing and rap, the community have learned to tell their history and importantly create a new future in tourism. #comuma13 #aictourcomuna13 #thepoweriflife_7 @thepoweroflife_7
An adventure inland has taken us to the lush, gree An adventure inland has taken us to the lush, green vibrant city of Medellin. Very different vibe to Cartagena de Indias. Had a cultural day, travelling on the super clean, smart and efficient Metro to visit downtown Medellin in the rain (Pac a macs and umbrellas at the ready). A cultural tour of history, art, architecture and sculpture. All washed down with a good dose of Latin American enthusiasm.

We’ve not seen any of these characters but have experienced ‘something totally different’ in the form of land based adventure where we could travel at more than walking pace, sleep in a square bed, and be far from the sea, but not from water... Adventures in Minca, start with an intrepid bike r Adventures in Minca, start with an intrepid bike ride to the start of the trail (yes Fiona got in the back of a motorbike!), some impressive hikes across waterfalls and through leafy green vegetation, to see some impressive views. Sailing offshore is all about risk management. We manage the risks of wind and waves by using technology to tell us what should happen, we manage the risk of injury by having simple rules on board, but some risks can only be managed by luck. Lightning is one of those risks and we knew, in leaving Curaçao, we were in for a lot of lightning and therefore a lot of risk managed only by luck.... New blog! 25th August 2022 “Waiting game” Span New blog! 25th August 2022 “Waiting game” Spanish Waters, Curaçao The sail from Curaçao to Colombia is reported to be the 5th most difficult sailing passage in the world. The high mountains create massive katabatic winds that reach far offshore, the Punta De La Guajira on the Venezuelan border funnels the trade winds leading to massive wind acceleration, and waves build to colossal heights above the steeply rising seabed. Finally adding to this ‘fun’, heat from the south American continent manifests itself in constant unrelenting lightening. Traversing these phenomena was to be Ruffian’s next challenge and so we were playing a waiting game hoping we’d not be beaten up too badly....
